Massage Therapy: A Knead 4 Peace

Ariya Coppock, LMT MA58609

Massage therapy is an important part of the care provided at Hanson Wellness Studio. It compliments Chiropractic care by relaxing tired muscles, relieving muscle spasm, eliminating or reducing scar tissue, and speeding the healing process following injuries. We offer Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, Prenatal Massage, Scalp and Neck massage (excellent for helping to clear out the lymphatic system of those suffering from allergies!), and Hand and Foot massage.

A Brief Description of Massage Therapy Techniques:

Swedish Massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. These are sliding, kneading, rhythmic tapping, cross-fiber, and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving the overall function of the body.

Deep Tissue is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish Massage, but the pressure will be more intense. It is also a more focused massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension known as "knots," or "adhesion."

Neuromuscular (NMT) is a form of massage. It is distinguished from other types of massage in that a quasi-static pressure is applied to the skin with the aim of stimulating specific areas of skeletal muscle. Often these areas of muscle are myofascial trigger points.

Myofascial Release refers to the manual massage techniques for stretching the fascia and releasing the bonds between fascia, integument, and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing the range of motion and equilibrioception. Myofascial release usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions, or by skin rolling.

A Knead 4 Peace was established in 2010 and is located in Hanson Wellness Studio. Ariya Coppock is the owner and a licensed massage therapist. She graduated from Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy (previously The Humanities Center School of Massage).

"My passion for massage therapy started as a young child and I finally had the opportunity in my life to make it my profession. One of the fondest memories as a youngster was giving massages to my Asian grandmother. This was a part of our culture and it gave her great comfort. I enjoyed seeing and feeling this. Now I enjoy making others feel better with a Therapeutic or Relaxation massage. My goal is to provide my clients with the highest quality of massage to preserve and improve the whole being which will supply an unquestionable dymamic metamorphosis-MIND, BODY, and SOUL!" -Ariya

Ariya made sure the massage I received was very therapeutic.  She asked all the right questions and was able to focus on my shoulder and neck trouble spots. I have lived with discomfort in these areas for a long time.  Her techniques were effective at releasing the pain from my muscles, thus making the quality of my life better now, because I feel better.

I received a one-hour Pregnancy Massage from Ariya every other week throughout my pregnancy during 2010. I allowed myself this luxury during such a special time and it was worth it! Ariya was able to tailor the massage to meet the needs of my ever-changing body at each visit with special attention given to my baby in utero. The massage not only helped relieve stress in my hips, lower back, and legs, but it also allowed time for me to focus on connecting with the baby growing inside me. I would leave Ariya feeling relaxed in mind, body, and soul and I feel my baby received the same benefits.

Ariya Coppock provides the most thorough massage that leaves me lingering in relaxation for hours after. She has an amazing technique that revitalizes all my aching muscles and soothes my soul. I look forward to any opportunity to get a massage from her and recommend her to all of my friends!
